Peterborough Public Health (PPH) would like to advise residents that a potential strike could impact operations at 185 King St. and in the community as early as November 28. The Board of Health and Ontario Nurses Association (ONA) have agreed to a mediation meeting on November 26, 2018 in an effort to reach a settlement and avoid a labour disruption.

Contingency plans are in place, which are designed to ensure the continuity of essential public health services in the event of a strike. If this happens, PPH will remain open between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday, however, several services and programs will be affected. The full list of available and unavailable services is available on www.peterboroughpublichealth.ca.

Residents are advised to visit our website for updates if there is a labour disruption. It is also recommended that residents follow PPH on social media @PtboHealth for the latest public health information.

Individuals who continue to access public health services are reminded that there could be picket lines including at our location at 185 King St.  Please keep the following tips in mind, as your safety is very important to us:

  • Be prepared for larger crowds.
  • Be patient and courteous; try to keep the conversation to a minimum.
  • Arrive early; allow for extra time since delays are likely.
  • Inappropriate behaviour, by either side, is not acceptable (and possibly illegal). Security services will be on hand to assist if necessary.
