September 11, 2013 – New Evening Clinic Hours & Interactive Immunization Schedule on Facebook Help Parents Keep Their Children Healthy

Vaccination-Public-Pointer-1Effective immediately the Routine Immunization Clinic at Peterborough Public Health (PCCHU) will stay open until 6:00 p.m. on Mondays to make it easier for parents without a healthcare provider to get their children vaccinated.

Only the clinic hours on Mondays have changed from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. while Friday hours remain the same from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Clients can call (705)743-1000, ext. 139 to book an appointment.

These changes coincide with the introduction of a new interactive Facebook page developed by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care based on the Ontario Immunization Schedule to help parents easily find out if their child is due for a vaccination.  The online tool is available by using the link below or on this website by clicking on the immunization web pages for parents and caregivers:

“The tool gives a full spectrum view, beginning with a mother’s pregnancy through birth, infancy, early childhood, teenage and adulthood – every vaccine at each life stage is explained,” said Edwina Dusome, Manager of Infectious Disease Programs at Public Health.  “It’s a good way to help families keep up-to-date with their recommended vaccinations.”

Parents are reminded to inform the PCCHU whenever their child receives a vaccination by calling 705-743-1000, as healthcare providers do not submit this information to Public Health.  Children must have up to date immunization records on file at Public Health in order to attend school.
