Activities that are temporarily reduced or suspended include:


  • Food Safety Program
  • Work with community partners including meetings and committee work


  • Climate Change activities
  • Food Handler Training Classes
  • Food Handler Certification Exams
  • Food Programs – Come Cook With Us, Collective Kitchen
  • Healthy Babies Healthy Children – home visits
  • Infant Toddler Development program – home visits
  • In-person Prenatal Classes (online prenatal modules continue to be available)
  • Low Cost Rabies Vaccinations Clinics
  • Oral Health Screening
  • Programming and activities in all schools
  • Public Health Nurse–led Sexual Health Clinics
  • Requests for Immunization Records (access online available here)
  • Tobacco Cessation Support
  • Vision and Dental Screening in Schools

These services have been impacted due to the redeployment of staff to assist with the emergency response. For those who have registered for a scheduled class, workshop or appointment, you will be contacted directly if it is cancelled.

During our emergency response, Peterborough Public Health will continue to offer as many programs and services as possible. Currently, the following services will be unaffected:

  • Community Dental Clinic (emergency services only)
  • Doctor-led Sexual Health Clinic Services
  • Early Warning and Opioid Overdose Surveillance
  • Food Programs – Just Food
  • Food Safety Program (with the exception of the Food Handler Training Course)
  • Health Hazards Prevention and Control
  • Naloxone Distribution
  • Nutrition Consultations
  • Outbreak Investigations
  • Routine Inspections of Facilities
  • Rabies Prevention and Control Program
  • Safe Water Program
  • Sewage Disposal Program
  • Surveillance and follow-up for diseases of public health significance
  • Tobacco Enforcement

Family HEALTHline at 705-743-1000 will continue, however callers may experience a delay due to a higher than normal volume of calls.
