An emergency is a situation or future situation that could result in serious harm to persons or substantial damage to property. Emergencies may be caused by the forces of nature, a disease or other health risk, an accident or an act whether intentional or otherwise. They can happen anytime, anywhere and may be completely unpredictable.
Peterborough Public Health has an Emergency Response Plan to respond to public health emergencies. The plan uses the Incident Management System, a standardized approach to emergency management.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding emergency planning and preparedness, contact Peterborough Public Health or use the resources below for more information.
In order to personally be prepared for emergency situations you should:
- know the risks that affect you and the community in which you live,
- create an action plan, and
- have an emergency kit.
